When i upgrade to windows vista, a folder is created called windows.old.
Am i going to harm anything if i decide i don't need any of it and delete
the whole file?

No, you probably will need to take ownership of it before you can delete it
though.

Don't delete it!!!!

The above link is advice on how to revert to XP, if Vista goes wrong for you.
And you need the windows.OLD folder to do it!

you are a stupid user, because you've disabled the UAC!
With UAC enabled, you'll receive a prompt for elevation in order to easily
delete the windows.old folder.
