windows.old

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate RC1 (DVD ordered from Microsoft) on
Windows XP SP2. So, my old Windows moved to windows.old folder. So, I took my
Documents from windows.old and I moved to my new profile on Windows Vista. I
didn't want to keep windows.old 'cause it was a folder with 20GB. I deleted
this folder but 20GB are still on my HD. What can I do?
PS. My PC is new -> Windows Vista Compatible Logo Included...

Did you run Disk Clean up, empty your temporary files folder? Also, check
the Recycle Bin for anything thats not needed.

I asked a friend and he said me that Defragment will not give me more
space... I used Recycle Bin and Disk Clean Up but nothing happens. Oh, and
another question. I opened "Disk Cleanup" and it has a category "Hibernation
File Cleaner". What's this? If I erase it, will it cause any problems? It's
2GBs... And If use System Restore, will I lose documents???

If you are using System Restore then that may be hanging on to these files
in case you want to restore them. Consider turning it off/restricting the
space it can use.

Roy Coorne suggested this up the thread a bit...

If you have it delete this option it will stop your system from being able to
go into hybernation mode. Which if you don't use, ti will help you save some
drive space.

Microsoft has KB articles on how to turn it back on, incase you ever want to
reactivate it in the future!

So if your like me and not going to use it... Have it clean it out!

Good luck!
