Windows not refreshing correctly

Nona

About a month ago I started noticing that when I was online that sometimes I
would have to click refresh a couple of times or click in the address bar
and hit enter a couple of times to get the page to load. I do a lot of
selling on eBay, I noticed when I would go to my seller page that it
wouldn't load and it would say done on the bottom of the status bar but the
page was blank. So I would click refresh and sometimes it would take a
couple clicks to get it to load. My graphics card went out last week and I
thought maybe that was it so I replaced it but no improvement - I thought it
was a longshot anyway. What is really frustrating now is when I am in the
browser and I click the drop down list for the back button and select
something a few page visits back, it doesn't refresh automatically - even
though I have the browser set to check for updates everytime I visit the
page. So in eBay when I go to relist something, or leave a feedback for
example - it used to be that I could click the drop down list from the back
arrow and select the link that said My eBay Seller Page and I would go back
and a check mark would be by the item that I just relisted or left a
feedback for - but now it doesn't refresh at all - I have to click refresh
or press F5.

I teach computers so I should know what the answer is but I don't. I am
running Windows XP home edition, my computer is only 15 months old (and yes,
my lovely NVIDIA TI4100 graphics card ALREADY went kaput), I have run disk
cleanup, I have defragged. Any other suggestions? The only thing that has
changed in the past few months is installing a new graphics card last week
(but this started before that) and downloading all of the patches to avert
these viruses going around.

Any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated.
