Windows Network without WINS

All,
Our w2k domain had a few NT4 servers. We have upgraded all to either w2k
server or adv. server which makes our current environment a purely w2k
network.
We have a lot of programmers with other 3rd party utilities. We also have
other 3rd party applications running on our network.
I have been requested to disable WINS on the network and configure it to use
purely DNS for name resolution without netbios.
Can anyone tell me what to expect with this kind of setup/configuration?
A purely Microsoft network without WINS/NetBios, what am I to expect.
Any Article on this kind of setup will be appreciated.
Thanks

Don't do it if you run Exchange and/or have any Win98 or lower clients.
They still use Netbios to find stuff. W2k3 . I spent the last 6 months
finding that out the hardway.

an issue?
I dont have Win98 or lower clients.
Any other information will be appreciated.
Thanks
