Windows Mobile Device Problems

I'm using Vista Ultimate (final version) and Windows Mobile Device Center
(Beta 3, the latest).
1. I can get it to connect to my device (Cingular 8525) and after a few
minutes the Sync progress bar appears. After 30 minutes there's no progress.
2. When I attempt to open the Windows folder on my device (something that
used to take a few seconds using ACtiveSync) I get a wait mouse pointer and
45 minutes later there's no further action.

What AV / firewall applications are you using?

Are you using Defender or Windows Live? I had to poke holes in the firewall
in Windows Live to get my PDA to sync.

No 3 party. just the defaults in Vista.

Very stange, remind me what device are we talking about again, and I
assume you are using WMDC beta 3?

I also noticed something strange, but can't find a way to correct it. With
my device (named C8525) connected. If I go to the "Set up new sync
partnership" link on the Sync Center, C8525 shows up twice.

Okay so their badged version of the HTC TyTn, as far as I'm aware if
you are using WMDC beta 3 and vanilla Vista you should not have any
problems. It might be worth removing WMDC and reinstalling. The only
issues I've come across are if you are usin a third party firewall like
Trend of even MS OneCare.

There's both a WMDC and a WMDC Update. I only remember installing the UPDATE.
Is that the one I should remove and reinstall?

Hmm, this means I think you had the earlier beta installed. I'd remove
both and download the WMDC beta 3 from MS and install it manually. That
should give a clean playing field to work from.

Here's what I did:
1.Removed WMDC and WMDC Update
2.Rebooted
3.Installed WMDC Upadte Beta 3
4.Rebooted
5.Connect device (Cingular 8525) and allowed drivers to be installed
and WMDC to be configured
6. Disconnected device and reconnected it.
7. After connecting C8525 still shows up twice in the sync center
(see posting)
8. after twenty minutes it was still trying to sync.

Which all is the right thing to do, you've got me stumped here, but one
last try I think. Go into WMDC and remove both partnerships and then
create a new one - if that does not fix it then you do have me stumped.

I assume that you can navigate into the file structure of the 8525 via
My Computer?

I made some progress. I had it sync just my contacts and it did it. One my
desktop I placed one small file in the sync folder to be copied to my device.
The WMDC has been showing that it's sync for over ten minutes, so it may not
be working. I hope microsoft makes BIG improvements in this. I NEVER had
any ActiveSync problems. Using ActiveSync I could open the window sfolder on
my device in a few seconds. I have never gotten WMDC to open it.

I can't get my 8525 to sync at all.
