Is there any way to turn off the pop-up that reminds me to install a
new version of windows messenger? Thanks

If you don't use WM - as I don't - rename msmsgs.exe to msmsgs.000 - that
gets rid of it )

A better way to do this that also saves you some hard disk space is to go
into the Add/Remove Programs control panel, click on the Windows Components
button, and uncheck Windows Messanger.
