Messenger Update

Hi,
I have disabled the Microsoft Messenger as I never use it. I am getting
the notification of an upgrade to the messenger service every day. I can
tell it to remind me again in a week but it does not let me opt out of this
reminder. Is there a way I can stop this annoying reminder from popping up?

Thanks
Barb

Hey BJ
i could be completely wrong here (and trust me it has happened on a number
of ocassions) but to if there is no possible way visable to you to stop this
reminder and your sure you dont use messenger then why dont you just remove
it from your computer!
this might not be the only soluction but i know how annoying those updates
can be and usually they dont give you a choice to get rid of them for ever!!

Just update it, and make sure your Windows Messenger is still disabled after
updating.

If you really want to remove this, let me know. It is not recommended to
remove Windows Messenger completely from your machine.

Start | Run
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Thank you all for your help. I don't think I am brave enough to try and
remove the Messenger. I started receiving this message after updating
security patches.

William - this sounds like an easy way around this. I think I will try that.
It is very annoying to say the least.
