At work, we have XP Pro systems and use Windows Messenger. However,
messenger is only available on the intranet and we can't connect to anyone
on the internet. To connect to coworkers via messenger, we simply add them
by entering their email address, they then approve you and you can start to
chat.

We do have full internet access and can surf webpages.

Would anyone know how this is done. For my home business, I certainly would
like to have something like this as well.....messenger only on our intranet.

You carn’t do that with MSN messanger or Windows Messanger, becasue
Microsoft don’t want you to, if you just want an internal chat
system you should look into some thing like IRC, my IRC server of
choice is RageIRCd, and xchat would be a wise choice for a IRC client.
