Simply put, I've no need or interest in this application. I've removed it
via Add/Remove Windows Component, told it to not start up when Windows load
and etc. Still, the things keep coming back.

What is this thing doing that it insist on loading up when Windows start
operations? I am currently using M$ Outlook 10 to see how it looks when
sending mails and dealing with newsgroup. I say this because, it is the only
thing I can think of?

FWIW, the system is home, sits behind a router and connects via DSL.

So, what is that app doing then? Is a messaging app, really that needed?

Also, whenever MS decides to release SP2, they will turn it off
automatically (????).

Nope, Microsoft has said they will disable the "Messenger Service". Windows
Messenger will stay.
