Windows Messenger 5.0 .MSI for deployment?

J

Jeff Koviack

A couple of things:

A recent Windows update revealed to me that Messenger 5.0 does not come up
as a Windows update. Is this correct?

Where can one find the .msi to deploy Windows Messenger 5.0 within an AD
environment

I have the administration guide and it talks about deploying through .msi,
but I couldn't find it on the MS website or on LCS disk.

Greetings Jeff,

Correct -- it is not on WindowsUpdate, because some features within Windows Messenger 4.x
(what most people are using since it was included in XP and has been on WindowsUpdate) are
not in Windows Messenger 5 -- more specifically, any MSN features like Hotmail support, MSN
Mobile, MSN Profiles, etc. are removed. It's not a required upgrade by any means and
therefore not listed.

You can find the MSI here:
