I have used media player on .wmv, .avi files. Can it also play video mpg
and mpg2 files? And what are the extensions for mpg and mpg2?

I see about associated file types: I notice MPEG is strictly for QUICK TIME.
Two questions. It ends in extension with 4 letters. Is it ok? And it does
not mention Windows Media Player, therefore it is not suitable for this
type.
Thank You.

I found Tools MENu|Folder Options| File Types in My computer. Thanks..
I notice MPEG with four letters extension. Normal? And it is for Quick Time.
It appears that Windows Media Player is not suitable for this. In this
case, I will need Quick Time for this particular file type. Thank You.

You have Quicktime installed and it has grabbed association. In its
Control Panel applet uncheck the MPEG there, and then in Windows Media
Player use Tools - Options - File types to select 'Movie File (mpeg)',
which as the note below will show, includes the mpg. mp2 and other
extensions
