mpg file won't play properly

Recently I installed a WinTV 1600 card. It plays TV just fine. It
came with Scheduler which allows to record a program that produces an
mpg file. The problem is that this mpg file has audio but no video. I
tried using Microsoft Media player and another player--same result.
When I tried playing this mpg file on a Vista-based PC, it won't play
audio and won't play video from this mpg file. Would this be a codex
issue? O/S? or something about the mpg file? Are there different
formats of an mpg file? After contacting Hauppauge, the tech
suggested I completely uninstall all (Hauppauge) applications, reboot,
and re-install with the latest version which I did with no luck.
Thanks for any ideas and helping me troubleshoot. Excuse me if this
is wrong group to ask, but if there is better group, please advise.
TIA

It seem to truely be a Codec problem and by installing one of those |
large" codec "collection" file, you may fix this.
