Windows Media Player --wrong speed?

Lately when I open a .wmv or other movie file the "seek" bar and the "total
time" are way less than the film. This causes the picture of the film to end
in seconds while the audio seems to stay in the background "on track." I
can't seem to find a way to adjust this back to normal. Oddly, when I access
these same files on a laptop via my home wireless connection, they play fine.
How can I fix my desktop Media Player?

Thanks~! I have WMP v.10....and while in Play Speed Setting there doesn't
appear to be any adjustment. A "Slow," "Normal," and "Fast" appear...along
with an elaborate scale, nothing is adjustable. Same problem! I'm still
open for suggestions.
