Windows Media Player Won't Work

I'm not sure where to go for this question, so if this is not the proper
newsgroup, please tell me which is. When I try to play a wav file from the
about.com web site, my Windows Media Player will not play. I get the
following message:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no sound card
Error ID = 0x80040256, Remedy ID = 0x00000000
This error indicates that you either do not have a sound card or it is
functioning incorrectly. If you do not have a sound card, you must install
one to play this file. If you do have a sound card, refer to its
documentation to troubleshoot the problem.

Web Help
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I DO HAVE A SOUND CARD, because at this very moment I am playing a French
language radio on my Real Player. Why will the Windows Media Player not
work, and how can I fix it? Thank you in advance for any help anyone may be
able to give.

I don't know either but since you haven't had much luck here
and since you are using OE and connected to msnews
I would try this: press Ctrl-w and type c.w med
Then click on one (or press Tab twice) and press End.
Take your pick?

Good luck
