Windows Media Player Prevents Screensaver from Activating

I have found that when Windows Media Player is running (I run version 10,
which may or may not be relevant) it prevents the built-in Windows XP screen
saver from activating. I have my screen saver set at 2 mins with the "On
resume, password protect" box checked. As a result of this behavior, when I
walk away from my machine, the screen saver never kicks in & locks. Has
anyone else observed this behavior? Is there a way to overcome it?
Thanks

Stop WMP before walking away from your computer.

In Windows Media Player, on the TOOLS menu, click OPTIONS. Place a check
mark in the check box next to "Allow screen saver during playback".
