Windows Media PLayer aspect ratio problem

I've just done a full re-install of Windows (see my post 'NIghtmare!' for
details). For some reason now, 16:9 format MPEG files won't display properly
in Media Player. They are shown as 4:3 images filling the screen (ie
stretched vertically), instead of letterboxed. Clicking on File properties
shows the files as 4:3 format, when they are definitely 16:9 (I've recorded
some MPEGs from BBC One using my Hauppauge Nova Freeview box, and Video Redo
correctly shows them in 16:9 format)

ANy idea how to get the video to display properly again?
I've got the latest DirectX

Have a look at the file and see what the pixel size is. Media player is not
good at converting over squire pixels in to over sq. oblongs

It's ok, I fixed it. I've got DVD Movie Factory 4 upgrade, in order to
install it, I had to install v1.0. The codec used with this program was
causing MP to display the wrong aspect ratio. I've uninstalled v1.0 of Movie
Factory and now videos are displayed correctly.

Thanks anyway
