Windows Media Player 8.0

I am running Windows XP Home Edition. Everytime I click
on my "Icon" to log in with my settings the windows media
player launches automatically. Any ideas as to how and
stop this? it is really annoying.

Go to Start/Run and type in "msconfig" without the quotes and hit OK. When
the system configuration utility opens, go to the startup tab. Locate the
line that is telling WMP to load and take the checkmark out of the checkbox
in front of that line (by clicking in the box). OK your way out. Reboot the
machine when prompted.
