Windows and WMP do not include a 'codec' for decoding DVD movies: it
would have cost in licensing for what was seen as not that wide a
requirement. You can get one from third parties -
eg http://www.cineplayer.com/decoder/default.htm?from=
which is $14.99
Or if you had an independent player before an upgrade to XP, reinstall
that and WMP will probably use its codec
