Error playing DVDs in WM11 (Digital Copyright Protection error)

I did a fresh install of Windows XP and updated the drivers to my
graphics chipset to the latest version (Intel 82830M graphics
controller). I also installed the latest version of DirectX (9.0c?)
I also installed the Gabest Universal opensource DVD decoder
When I play a DVD I get the following error, I get the following
error.

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem
with digital copy protection
between your DVD drive, decoder and video card. Try installing an
updated
driver for your Video card.

I would appreciate any advice to help fix this.
Thanks

I had same issue, tried reinstalling WMP 11 a couple times, updated graphic
card drivers, nothing worked. Finally figured out WMP 11 does not like other
software that plays dvd's so I uninstalled all other programs.

Finally works OK, now it freezes after playing a movie for more than 3
minutes, I have to reboot system to get to play, trouble is it will redo
after another 3 - 4 minutes.

Also had issue burning cd's, turns out it does not like Roxio's
"drag-to-disk" so I had to uninstall (I never used it any way) that program
also.

My opinion is that WMP 11 kind of sucks.
