windows me wont detect cdrom drives

all of a sudden my computer wont detect either of my cdrom drives.it will in
safe mode but not in normal mode. how can i fix this and can i use my
startup floppy to fix this.if i can use the startup disk can someone give me
the command prompts to do it as i am not familiar with using the startup
disk.by the way i use windows me.thank you for youre help!!
