First you could try adjusting the options in your antivirus program so
it will not scan email. Which antivirus program is it, though? Some
common antivirus programs often cause problems in Windows
Mail, although seldom immediately.

Also, if you are using pop3 as the name of the server, you are
using an invalid name and need to check with your email provider
(who is probably also your internet provider) to get their
instructions for setting up to use their email servers. Or, you
could tell us who your email provider is and see if anyone here
already knows where to find the instructions.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

Windows Mail often behaves erratically when interfered with by some
antivirus programs. Windows Mail is not compatible with most
McAfee and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

I don't have access to the older posts you are referring to.
Each person posting here should assume their problem is unique.

Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Also, which antivirus did you remove, and which one did you install?

SAME PROBLEM. TRIED TWICE TO LOG INTO YAHOO MAIL ON MICROSOFT 7 I THINK
THE LIBRARY USES. BOTH TIMES GOT BLANK WHITE PAGE EXCEPT FOR THE USUAL
TOOL/FILE/EDIT AND OTHER STUFF AT THE SCREEN TOP

There is no such thing as "Microsoft 7".
If you mean the Windows Mail program, free Yahoo accounts won't work
on it because the free accounts have webmail access only.
Use Internet Explorer and go to http://mail.yahoo.com to access your
webmail.

Do you have vision problems with reading lowercase, or is your Caps Lock
key stuck? If neither, note that messages in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
are likely to get fewer useful answers since many people have problems
reading ALL CAPITAL LETTERS as fast as the more common mostly
lowercase style.

Also, we try to avoid much discussion of the http://mail.yahoo.com
website in this newsgroup, since this newsgroup is intended for
discussing the Windows Mail program instead. However, it looks
possible that your problem is on the Yahoo end, not on your
computer.
