Windows Mail vs Windows Live

I have Vista 64-bit and use MS Mail. I downloaded IE8 a while ago and had
the problem that a lot of others had in being unable to open email
attachments. I eventually went back to IE7 to solve that problem. I've
since heard that using Windows Live Mail instead would allow me to go to IE8
and not have the opening attachments problem. Based on that I have 3
questions:
1 - Is it accurate to say that Windows Live Mail and IE8 does not have the
opening attachments problem?
2 - Are there any other significant problems with WLM and IE8 that I need to
know about before I make the switch?
3 - Assuming I do go with WLM, is there any way to add multiple attachments
to a single email in one transaction, as I can do now with MS Mail? Right
now you have to add them one at a time.
Thank you.

A correction to my original message. By "Windows Mail" I really meant
Microsoft Mail. Sorry for any confusion.

Incidentally, there is no "Microsoft Mail" or "MS Mail".
The email program that is included with Vista is Windows Mail.

1. Correct.
2. There are no compatibility problems between IE8 and Windows Live Mail.
3. Not sure what you mean. Windows Live Mail handles attachments the same
as Windows Mail.

Incidentally, the problem with attachments in Windows Mail after installing
IE8 was fixed by the recent release of a Windows Update: KB972260.
