windows mail store folder

Hi, I know where the store folder is and I would like to move it a an
external drive and don't want to lose my messages. any instructions would be
appreciated.. thanks

You can't move the message store to an external or network drive.
If you hack the Registry and change the store folder location to an external
drive, it may work until the external drive is not available and the stored
folder location is back to the original location.

OK - what is the best way to back up and more important to keep the same
email account current between my desktop ( home) and laptop ( trips )...

I would backup and restore Windows Mail messages by using the same Registry
keys on the laptop and the desktop.

Check with your ISP if the support IMAP.
If so use IMAP instead of POP3 on both your desktop and your notebook.

This way always everything will be loaded separately but stored on the
server in the same folders.
You'll automatically have the identical situation on all computers.

In case they do not provide IMAP, look for a new provider.
