Windows Mail problems in Vista Home Premium

Hi, I really don't know if this will help you, but it worked for me. My wife
and I have identical Inspiron E1705 notebooks. I set up the mail accounts for
each of us. We use a wireless home router.
I was having a very similar problem, I found that since my wife opened
the cable account for our home, she had a Master account with our internet
service provider, mine was a sub account. The only privledges I had on the
sub account was the ability to change my password. To make a long story
short, on the second page of your Windows Default Mail properties, where you
filled out your POP and SMTP server info, Try checking off the "My server
requires authentication" box. Next, click on the settings botton right next
to the last sentence. In the outgoing Mail Sever Logon box, this appears
after clicking settings, Click on "Log on using" and try using your wifes
password. Not her home e-mail password, but the password the ISP supplied to
access your account. I actually used my wifes e-mail address and password the
first few times I used my new mail, after that I delete her name and password
and I unchecked the "My Server requires authentication" box. I have not had a
problem since. Good luck and I hope I did'nt throughly confuse you.
