Windows mail on Vista Premium

I setup all my e-mail contacts and they all appear when I check them.
When I type the 1st letter of the e-mail address some will drop down a menu
to chose what address you want to send to, others won't and I have to type in
the whole address.
It appears that this happens to the ones I use the least, but not always.
Is there a setting I am overlooking or is this just the way Windows mail
works?
