I have a brand new PC, set up Windows Mail, all working fine for 2 days,
imported some emails from old Outlook mail on old PC, very convuluted but got
there ok and then suddenly Windows Mail has stopped displaying anything and I
have the following message:
Folder could not be displayed
Windows Mail could not open this folder.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Possible causes are:

Low disk space.

Low memory.

Windows Mail

Have rebooted many times, but no help.

This fix sometimes helps with similar problems, so you might try it.
Download and install it with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit
version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common antivirus
programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a
recent one from Trend, tend to cause various problems in
Windows Mail, so if you have one of these programs, remember
where to find the fix - you are likely to need it again.

Importing messages from Outlook requires extra effort. I assume
you either installed Outlook on you new computer to help Windows
Mail read the .pst file, or imported them first into Outlook Express
on your old computer and then imported them from Outlook
Express into Windows Mail.

This problem can be caused by your antivirus. Windows Mail
is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton security
programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, NOT just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like:

AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those, during the install phase you must select custom
install, and then deselect the email scanning option.
