Windows Mail Export Back To OE

After six months of frustration & perseverance, I've finally bitten the
bullet and gone back from Vista to XP. I copied the entire hard drive on to
an external drive , reformatted the internal and reinstalled XP from scratch.

So far everything has been great...except..and here's the question....

Is it possible, without actually running Windows Mail, to recover the
contacts and e-mails contained therein. I realise that WM stores these things
differently to OE but I should have the files and wondered if there was a way
to convert them back.

I'm sure that I'm not the only person in this predicament.

All assistance greatly appreciated and received.

Its very easy for the messages. The contacts I don't think you can do.

For the email messages, just search for *.eml and when you find them, just
drag them from Explorer and drop them onto an OE message list window and OE
will then reincorporate them.

you might try dragging the contacts one at a time into the OE contacts folder. hope there is not too many.

it would have been best to Export the WM contacts before this started.

I must admit that, before I took the radical step of wiping the hard drive,
I considered the possibility of trying to export contacts and e-mails but I
already knew that Mail stored them in a different manner to OE.

While I appreciate both your responses, firtly, I cannot find any files with
a .eml extension and I am no longer in a position to run Mail in order to
drag and drop contacts.

It had occured to me to partition the hard drive my "C" and verbatim copy
back what is now on the external, in order to "dual boot". I realise that
this is a long shot in order to be able to run Vista again in order to
recover all that I have lost.

If this does actually work, I think I'd probably keep Vista. At least this
way I would not have to buy a new printer! (Lexmark refused point blank to
supply me with a Vista compatible driver!!!)

What do you think guys and gals?
