Windows mail dialup problems

Hello,

A friend if mine uses dialup for internet connection, to Tiscali. He has
Vista, and uses Windows Mail.

He is having connection problems, i.e. after connecting OK he is
disconnected after a few minutes (or a few seconds)

Could this be a problem in email 'settings', ie a problem on his own pc, &
if so where does he look. Or is it a problem at Tiscali's end?

(My friend is not very computer-literate, and it is difficult to find out
the history of this fault, except that it does seem to have been occuring
for some time.)

Have them check Tools menu in WM>options>connections tab, ensure "Hang up
after send and receive" is not checked.

Also have them go to tools>options>connection tab>change button>under dial
up and VPN>settings>next to dial up settings>advanced>ensure that
"disconnect when connection no longer required" is not selected.

When Windows Mail is not open, does the same thing happen
when he is surfing with Internet Explorer?
If so, it has nothing to do with any mail settings.
