Windows Mail Demanded Passport Credentials

I found it odd that I can't post here withoutproviding passport credentials
... it didn't offer any option not to other than to not post.

You can turn this off by going to Tools > Accounts > select
msnews.microsoft.com > Properties > there is should be an option tab for
Passport, select that and choose the Do not use communities feature > OK

Thanks Andre Da Costa. I don't mind it, just that I didn't see a way around
it.

Signing in lets you rate posts among other things... not that I've ever
needed to use that feature. It also seems to tie your newsgroups account to
your Windows Live ID.
