Windows Mail: Deleted Folders

Permanently Deleted Folder and the folder below disappeared. Any idea how to
recover. I also set up a couple of test folders after this happened and
moved to deleted file. When permanetely deleting 1 folder it deletes the
folders below and they seem gone forever. Searched for emails and folders and
they are gone. Must be on the drive somewhere (forensics?)

If the "folders below" were nested in the folder that was deleted then
that's exactly what should have happened, when you delete a folder, all
folders within that folder are deleted, you may be able to recover the
deleted folders (using data recovery software) and import the data back into
Windows Mail.

Miriam, do not expect any data recovery application to restore anything that
was deleted permanently.

It might, but more often than not it will not.

Just accept that it is gone, sadly, and move on, and don't make the same
mistake again?

Hi - we actually accidentally deleted 21,000 messages after accidentally
placing all our mail sub-folders in the Delete Box and them emptying our
delete box. We saw this post, downloaded Recuva - from the site listed below
- and it worked - think we recovered over 90% of them. We recovered them
onto a USB drive and then imported them back into Windows Mail. We lost the
folder organization of them, but the messages look like they all came back
pretty much. I think part of the trick is that we did not turn off mail or
do much on the computer after it happened. I am guessing that if we
restarted the computer it may not have worked and wiped out the data from the
drive already. Anyway - hope this helps someone out there.

You're very welcome. You are the first one to report back here after using
Recuva, so I appreciate the feedback.
