Several times a day Windows Mail shuts down on its own, then starts back up

Check what antivirus software you have and if that could be the problem.

Thanks for the information, but...when I downloaded it, it installed to just
99%, then it hung and never installed.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry to hear you had a bad install. Make sure your antivirus
is disabled during the install. You may have to do the so-called
'complete' uninstall/reinstall:

Installed the new Windows Live Mail and I like it; however it did not
resolve my problem with Live Mail shutting down for unknown reasons.
Happens several times a day.
Would it be the Trend Micro Anti-Virus acting too aggressively or is it
something else??

It could be your AV, or as you say something else?
Did you check out Problems Reports and Solutions in Control Panel (classic
view, top left).

Hard to say. The only way to find out is to do a temporary uninstall
of Trend Micro antivirus.
