windows logon screen

On my win xp pro I get a logon screen where I just click ok with no pass
word. I have installed win xp tweak and tried to make it auto logon but it
will only work one time next restart, screen comes back up. Win xp on my
laptop does not have a logon screen come up and it does not have tweak or
power toys installed. Is there a way to control the log on screens? Thanks.

One of the windows updates that was released recently
installs a limited account that can not be seen in normal
mode. If you boot into safe mode and delete the asp.net
limited account, and there are no other accounts, it will
auto-login the main account on bootup provided there is no
password on that account.

Hope this helps,

If you want your .net framework to work correctly then don't delete the
asp.net account, just set auto-logon up.
Auto Logon:

Start, run, type in: control userpasswords2, hit enter.

Uncheck: users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Xp will then ask you to enter the user and password you want to auto-logon
to.
Or
Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto-logon feature.

Hi

If you want to bypass the Welcome screen, try this:

From Start>Run type in

control userpasswords2

then uncheck 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer' and click 'Apply'. On the next screen - 'Automatically Log On' -
delete the name 'Administrator' from the User name box and enter your
account name and then the password in the next two boxes. OK your way out
and then reboot your system.

Or you can use Tweak UI:

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Autologon.

That would work, except i use remote desktop which will not allow logon if
no username / password has been isntalled....

You still keep your user/password, this simply will log you on automatically
instead of you typing your password in everytime. Remote desktop will still
work fine as you still have a user name and password. You don't get rid of
your password, you just set xp to automatically log on with that
user/password.
