Windows Live Messenger - Signs in but wont update contact list..

Hello Everyone
Im having some trouble with my Windows Live Messenger
It signs in just fine , then loads my contact list , and everything is ok up
until this point
but it wont show me when new contacts sign in , e.g. it wont update my
contact list of who is online etc , so basically i have to keep signing in
and out to update in manualy

I am currently running Widows Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition , and the
rest of my pc is fine , apart from WLM !

Any help you can give would be most apreactited

You might want to post this issue in the following ng:
microsoft.public.windows.live.messenger

Maybe the service is down.
