Windows Key+L Shortcut Stops Working

Whenever I leave my computer on for longer than a couple days or so, the
Windows Key+L (logout/quick user switch) shortcut combination stops
working and DirectX tells applications that it either isn't installed or
can't create a primary drawing surface (true with all versions of
DirectX). Any ideas as to how I can fix this problem? It's very
annoying and severely limits what I'm able to do on my machine at times.

Thanks!
