I had BitDefender Anti Virus and was working OK. When expired, upgraded to
Internet Security 2009, problem started. Uninstalled and then install
TrendMicro Internet Security 2008, still have problem.

Was each of the older antivirus successfully uninstalled prior to
installing newer oens?

Hmmmm ... do a search for each application as admin. including 'hidden' files
and folders. There's been a problem with multible 'identifier' file
placements intended to prevent re-use of Trial or expired License. Also,
some uninstalls require multible boots. If you have multible restore points,
or programs that 'snapshot' your system, those files can be missed during
uninstall. This was my experience trying to remove an active Norton Symantec
License, and also with OneCare auto-updates interfering with SP 3 install. It
took maybe half a dozen restarts for total resolve.

Ken,
If I understand correctly, I should restore to the point before I installed
the new version and Uninstall and then reboot a couple times. Then try
installing the new anti-virus again.

if you have a restore pt. prior to problem, do that to stabilize your system.
After each uninstall of the other software - restart, and search 'my
computer' to make sure they are gone. Chk. any applications that provide
'restore' type 'system snapshots' and delete their cache or disable the
application. If you are confident your system is stable at that point, turn
off 'system restore', reboot, turn Restore back on, and install the new
software. Good Luck... Again, this is personal experience only. I'm not a
tech.

BitDefender Antivirus was utterly worthless if your subscription had
expired. How long had you been running without a current subscription?
