Windows Journal Viewer

Windows Journal Viewer fails to install as it cannot find the installation
pack on my hard drive - Any idea where to look for it as it is stopping me
from running Adobe.

I do have a folder "D:\Program Files\Windows Journal Viewer\" but the file
that is being sort D:\DOCUME~1\User\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP000.TMP\ cannot be found

Hi Malcolm.

Dump the contents of that folder (edit/select all/delete), then try again.
It may be full to overflowing, and the installer is confused.

Hello Rick, thank you for responding.

Unfortunately this suggestion did not work. I parked the contents of the
Journal Viewer file elsewhere rather than delete but I get the same message
when I try to open an Adobe .pdf file. I wonder if that is where the real
probelm is?

Hi,

You need to clear the temp folder here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\temp

Thanks Rick - Have tried this but still no luck. Whenever I try to open a
..pdf file Adobe fires off the Windows Journal Install which immediatly fails
because it cannot find the Windows Journal Viewer.msi pack.

I dont know if this is relevant but I have recently had to return my PC to
'factory settings' after a malfuntion. My on-board Windows XP pack was circa
2002 so I have had stack of updates including SP2 to download. Everything
else seems to be OK but Adobe viewer 6.0.1, although it installs OK, will not
run.

Do you think I need to download an updated Windows Journal Installation pack
and if so any idea where I can find it?

Thank you for your responses to date.

Ok. now I have screwed this up 3 times.. sorry..
I have followed this thread and have tried all things listed with no avail.
I have tried to load the Journal viewer 1.5 and I get this message
" This advertised application will not be installed because it might be
unsafe. Contact your admin to change the installation user interface option
of the package to basid." it then stays it has been haulted and to try
again.. well same message no matter how hard or times I try.
I'm the admin.. I have no other users on this computer. So I have No idea
what that means.
Silly thing is. yesterday I had this same issue with Adobe and I got it to
work and I have NO idea what I did. go figure.
thanks for any and all help!

Downloaded and ran the Jounal Viewer setup file from this URL. Selected the
repair option which seems to have cured all problems - Adobe 6.0.1 runs
happily now.

Thanks to all
