Windows Internet explorer error

i, When trying to open up an powerpoint, word, or excel doc on a sharepoint
with the new office 2007, on XP OS, we get this error. "Edit Document
requires a windows sharepoint services compatible application and Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater.
We hafe IE 7.0 already installed and we have run a sfc /scannow; chkdsk
/r; we have repaired office 2007 and removed and reinstalled. My feeling is
that there is some sort of dll missing within Windows XP? Any suggestions?
