Windows Installer

I am in the process of upgrading my PC.

**OLD PC** **NEW PC**
Dell 8200 Dell 8300
XP Pro XP Pro
Office 2000 Office 2003


I started with a new image on the 8300 machine. To the
best of my knowledge, MS Office has never been installed
on this PC.

I had some problems when I tried to use the "Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard" so I manually copied the desired
files (templates, .PST, favorites, etc.)

Now, I periodically receive a "Windows Installer" dialog
box when performing simple tasks in Office 2003
applications (i.e. clicking on "Personal Folders" in
Outlook).

The message is always the same:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other
removable disk that is not available."
and
"Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional' disk
and click OK."

When I click CANCEL, the appplication seems to run
properly until the next "Windows Installer" message
appears.

Google & KB searches have yielded nothing.

I have removed all entries for "Office 2000" and "SR-1" in
the registry. There were several. I retained all entries
for "Windows Installer."

This problem does not appear to affect system operations,
but needles to say, it is very annoying.

Any suggestions?

To access the Application Log in the Event viewer,
run the following command from Start/Run:

eventvwr.msc


If a product code is listed there, MSIZAP.EXE is maybe able to fix this
issue, it is included as a utility in the support tools installation
package (on your WinXP CD) with some additional documentation included
in suptools.chm (installed by suptools.msi)

Based on the documentation in

this is what you should run:

msizap T {product code}
