Within the last two weeks, whenever we try to access a
Windows product,i.e,word,access, excel,etc., we get the
error message "The windows installer service could not be
accessed. Contact your support personnel to verity that
the windows installer service is properly registered".
Then the message appears "Unable to run command". Can you
please tell me how to fix.

I think the articles have helped others in the past.

What exactly did you do to get into this situation (which
OS / service pack did you start with, which did you
upgrade to)?

It appears to be a common recurring theme and I wonder why
MS hasn't acknowledged the problem and fixed it.
