This maybe one of those oblique XP/Update error messages that
do not point to the actual cause?
The error code is not in the KB, but the general gist indicates that
the update/component/hotfix/pack/or even ActiveX/third party/ etc
does not have a valid or recognised MS digital signature? Or if
required is not found? It maybe just a security issue? Or possibly
a corruption? It could also be that administrator rights are prohibiting
whatever download you seek? It could also be a driver download/install
incompatibilty issue?
But also, it could also be that though your WinXP is the genuine
installation, have you allowed someone else to install XP on another PC?
If so, it has been detected by Windows Update and it is blocking
non-critical updates? But...........
It is too vague an error message to determine what it is exactly having a
problem with, what were you doing when this error message appeared?
Are you "owner"? "Admin"?
On LAN (Network)?
