I have WinXp SP-1, and Word 2002 installed on my computer. Three to four
months ago I installed Magellen MapSend software on the computer. The
Windows Installer popup started at this time. Last night I installed
SpywareBlaster on the computer. When I run Spyblaster or Magellan Mapsend
there is a popup window telling me "Please wait while Windows configures
Microsoft Word 2002". If I hit cancel several times SpywareBlaster opens
and runs ok. If I wait until the last installer popup window stops, I get
another popup window that states that the installer is looking for a file
named "WORDRET.MSI", and asks for the correct path to the file. Word 2002
has been installed on the computer for nearly 3 years and has worked
perfectly. I can find the reference to WORDRET.MSI when I run Regedit, but
would not know what to do with it if that were the problem. I run most of
the anti spam software, zonealarm, Anti Virus, have defragged, etc that I
hear about here in the NG's, and very seldom is there anything detected on
the system. I think it is a problem with the registry but am not sure how to
tackle the problem. Both these programs run perfectly if I hit cancel
several times when the Windows Installer opens. I hope I have not offended
anyone if I have posted this in the wrong NG. Many thanks for any help, and
thanks for help already received just by reading the NG.
