Windows Installer tries to install Office XP after uninstall

I attempted to uninstall Ofc XP from a laptop via Add/Remove Programs, no
luck; I used the Windows Install Cleanup program, and was able to remove both
Ofc XP and Ofc 2000. Now the Installer program attempts to install the Ofc
XP program after every reboot. Note: The laptop owner attempted to install
Ofc XP after they couldn't get Ofc 2000 to work.

The owner also reinstalled XP Home SP2 before they brought me the laptop.
They confirmed windows activation via telephone, couldn't access internet
with computer.

I've already implemented methods 1 thru 5 mentioned in the first link; no
luck, Ofc is no longer on the machine, but the installer keeps trying to
install it on every reboot. Norton AV 2005 also has a pop-up which states it
must be removed and re-installed to work properly. I've ignored it thus far,
trying to get the Ofc installation killed first.
