Outlook 2003 crashes when I close the window

Hi helper folks!

I have Win XP, Ofc 2003 professional and use Avast Antivirus. After sending
and receiving emails, I usually just click "x" to close the window. I get
the following error message:

MS Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.... The
error report details are at the end of this message.

I have done the following:
On error window clicked "Send Error Report" - once this sent me into an
endless loop of reconfiguring ofc 03 and then back to Outlook which would
crash each time I closed it. On error report window clicked "Don't Send" got
different error messages but the same result. Was sent into a loop that I
couldn't get out of. Eventually I got a Runtime Error. Dell folks tried to
help. We ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook twice to no avail.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Try disabling all Outlook add-ins. Add them back one by one if it works out
ok to see which might be causing it. I'd also update Avast (has been known
issues with Outlook) and ensure Outlook is totally up to date with all fixes
applied.
