WinXP wants to install MS Outlook on every reboot

WinXP wants to install MS Outlook and make it the default mail system on a
laptop PC I'm working on. I uninstalled two different versions of MS Ofc
from the laptop, as the owner said one came with the PC when he bought it,
but it never worked. The owner took the PC to someone else who installed
OfcXP Pro, but hadn't provided a COA for it (The owner was stationed in
Germany with the Army during this time). Nor could I un-install the
program(s) from the "Add/Remove" menu in Control Panel; had to remove them
with the "Windows Install Cleanup" utiility, and then remove the directories
with Win Explorer. I also cleaned up the hard drive with TuneUp Utilities
2004, but the owner still gets the above mentioned error message. FYI, I
also set up Outlook Express as the owner's default mail system. So, how can
I eliminate the Outlook message at startup?

are you installing the program under one profile and are you getting the
message under another profile? This could be the problem. I believe that
Office should be installed for each user on the machine.

I honestly don't know, the owner is unavailable for a response. I can only
assume that he used the same profile, as he is the only person on it, and I
don't think he's familiar with Administrator options in Safe Mode.

Try running Autoruns from System Internals to see if it can pin point
where this is coming from.
