Windows Installer starts when I drag drop files.

Windows Installer starts when I drag drop files.

Drag & Drop files or URL attempts install misc.software Office, Roxio,
Napster

When I left click drag a URL out of the address bar of Internet
Explorer into a Folder on my PC (e.g. a Favorites Folder)

I get a dialog saying Please insert the Roxio Easy Media Creator 7
Program CD to install the Napster client.

I did a Control Panel } Add Remove Programs } Roxio 7 } Repair but it
didn't make the symptoms go away.

When I Right Click } Drag } Copy a file from one folder to another I
get the same thing.

I can cancel out of the install attempt and the copy takes place.

Sometimes the install dialog has to do with Office 2003.

I am very low on disk space. 3.16 gig free on an 80Gig drive in a HP
ZD7000 notebook, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 1Gig Ram.

Avast AntiVirus (replaced Norton) seems to be working fine

Ran SpySweeper

Ran Scan Disk

Ran Registry Mechanic (double clicking the icon on the desktop to
launch it brought up one of the install dialogs, which I just
cancelled out of and then ran it.)

Running Disk Cleanup right now.

Clean out all users start folder.

You mean

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

??

Nothing new in there.

Nothing at all in

C:\Documents and Settings\JJ\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
As for Roxio (Creator 7 and SP2) these
issues are correct by going back to 6.

I hate Roxio but Roxio 7 has been installed for sometime now, though I
don't use it.

It isn't always Roxio that trys to install. Sometimes it is Office
2003.

I started to try a Office 2003 repair and ran into

Error 1406. Setup cannon write the value Button Text to the registry
key {.............................}
Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\

Verify you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or
contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance.

see PSS10R.CHM

Anyhow I'm going to run the Windows Installer Cleanup Program now.

Problem has not completely gone away I don't think but I'm going to
wait a few days before removing any other items with the Windows
Installer Cleanup Utility because I sense I'll have to reinstall
anything I remove (looks like I will have to do that with Roxio).

Anyhow thanks.

Could low disk space contribute to this type of problem?

How about uninstalling Norton System Works 2005 (which is easier said
than done).
