Windows Installer Related Problem (Intuit, Quicken, Quicken Medical Expense Manager)

Herman Naron

System Windows XP Home, SP2, latest updates.

In attempting to install Quicken 2006, I receive the following error
message:

"Windows Installer

(Triangle, Exclamation Mark) The configuration data for this product is
corrupt. Contact your support personnel." (Guess that's me, home computer,
single user). I've read most posts on this group related to "Windows
Installer", and have possibly found part of the problem. See "Install Log"
below:

The last line refers to "Quicken Medical Expense Manager", but I believe
that correcting that registry key above may fix both problems. Can anyone
tell me how to repair that registry key? I have some experience with editing
the registry (which may be what caused this problem), but I have no idea of
what value Installer is looking for. Who assigns "PackageName"? Is that
Intuit's "PackageName"? I would appreciate any help that may prevent having
to reinstalling the OS.

I have experienced a similar problem with Windows Installer trying to
install other applications. My solution was to remove the Windows Installer
using the Control Panel, then downlad and install the latest Windows
Installer for the operating system.
