What "MS products" are you attempting to "reunstall" (uninstall? reinstall?)
and why?

There is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a hijackware
infection!

NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had
expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has
since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows
Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: Format & reinstall
Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the
MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected
machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

2. [WinXP ONLY!! =>] Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan
(only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

This is what happens when you do not continue to post to your original Thread that
you started with this issue. You need to use the Installer clean up tool that I
posted to you with which you corrected your 1st issue with. Use the same tool to get
rid of all instances of MS Project 2002 and then remove (Project) from the
Add\Remove. Then after you will be able to re-install Office Project 2002

Sorry for posting again but I posted back to my oririnal posting and got no
reply and being new to this I just reposted.
Having said that, I did use the clean up and I tried to reinstall my MS
Project and when the install was almost complete I got this message
(Error 1402 Setup can not open the registry key UNKNOWN\MsoHelp
htmlHelp\CLDID verify that you have sufficient permission to access registry
or contact PSS for assistance) then it uninstalled what had been installed.
Any ideas where I go from here?

Thanks again for your help and PS Bears help
