Windows Installer keeps popping up?

dear all

on a Win XP Pro PC with Office 2003, when running Outlook the Windows
Installer box pops up periodically, especially when downloading email. The
installer goes "nowhere" and does nothing. You can cancel it but it soon pops
up again.

As I write this I don't have access to the PC but the App log in the even
viewer states MSIInstaller Error. I have tried "Office Repair", installed SP2
etc etc.

Eeverything but removing and re-installing which I don't want to do really -
Any ideas please ?

In the event viewer, is there an eventID number and source? That information
would be helpful.
