Windows XP Windows installations freezing/crashing

Hi all,

Having problems with re-installed copies of Windows XP on 2 separate machines. Both systems freeze after about 15 minutes of use, and I have to power down and re-boot. The systems are running at usual temperatures so I dont think its a hardware thing, any ideas? Norton Antivirus isn't picking up any problems either...

did it start heppening after you installed an appliication or peripheral?

Was windows on it's own working ok?

Anything in the event logs?

The PCs have different apps installed so I couldn't pin it down to a specific piece of software but it seemed to start happening almost straight away. One PC also has SP2 installed but the other doesn't.


I never used logs before but I am aware of them so i'll look into that, would they log events up until the point at which the computer crashes i.e. are they date/time stamped?

yes they are date stamped.
