To anyone who might have a solution:
Problem: When I try to install or remove a program I get error
messages
which basically say the Windows Installation Service is not accessible
make
sure you are not running in safe mode, etc. I have used administrator
accounts as well as some suggestions from Technet, Kelly's XP website,
and
others and have been unable to resolve this issue and at this point I
am at
my wits end. This problem is affecting ALL of my Windows XP clients
on the
domain.
Background: I have a simple Windows 2000 domain controller that was
rebuilt
early this year due to a severe HDD failure. All of the clients are
Windows
XP Professional joined to the domain. One computer I removed from the
domain
and was able to get it running. At this time I have not seen anything
in
Group Policy or Local Security Policy that could be the cause of this
problem.
Additionally I have unregisters and reregistered the Windows
Installation
Service as well as setting DCOM permissions to Everyone-Full Access.
I saw
one recomendation to remove DirectX 9 and tried it to no avail.
This is really frustrating and I need a resolution to this problem
soon.
Thanks in advance for any help someone might provide. Additionally if
there
is a better forum to post this request please advise.
Thanks,
Aaron
